For many people, April 20 is just another day. But for cannabis enthusiasts, it’s the most wonderful time of the year—a time to grind, roll and puff in celebration of marijuana’s unofficial holiday. For years, theories on exactly how April 20, or “420,” came to be associated with pot have been floating around, although a 2016 Huffington Post article seems to have finally debunked the myths.

In any case, 420, cannabis and related events continue to light up newsfeeds and headlines as legislators battle over regulations, groups fight for federal legalization and marketers navigate their way around the volatile space. From this year’s dry Cannabis Cup (seriously), all the way across the spectrum to a dedicated marijuana “oasis” just outside Coachella, weed-based events continue to spark consumers’ interest.
