It may have been a dreary day at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the sports car fans and aficionados who came to participate in the Porsche Destination Drives Experience.
Event Marketer headed out to the track for the day’s morning session (there was an afternoon session each day, too, from Sept. 12-15) for an experience that offered plenty of driving time behind the wheel of some of the most luxurious and powerful cars on the road today. The event began with a 20-minute classroom session that educated participants about each of the vehicles they would drive, along with the rules of the road. Next, we donned our helmets, buckled up and settled into the drivers seat for our turn on a specially devised on-track course (complete with hairpin curves and straightaways), a timed autocross event and an on-road driving session through the Poconos. A highlight of the day: our “hot lap” around the racetrack with a professional driver, an experience where the rubber really met the road.
The Poconos was the third stop on the Porsche Destination Drives tour after Cincinnati/Louisville (Aug. 15-17) and Detroit (Aug. 24-26.) Next up: Dallas (Sept 22-24) and San Francisco (Oct. 24-26).
