EA Sports Active Tour Energizes UK Consumers
The EA Sports Active fitness game for Nintendo Wii is on the second leg of its Get Active Tour, visiting shopping centers and fitness trade shows in the UK. It kicked off last June and ran through October, then picked up again in January and will run through the spring. At each location, EA sets up its sleek footprint featuring the games’ signature colors of white, green and blue with a demo stage and two pods where consumers can get up-close-and-personal with the game. Two brand ambassadors demo the game on stage while additional staffers at the pods work with consumers one on one.

Motorola Weaves Social Media into Super Bowl Sponsorship
To promote its Motoblur social networking technology to football fans during the Super Bowl last month, Motorola teamed up with Chad Johnson (a.k.a. “Chad Ocho Cinco”), a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, to create the online, athlete-run sports news network OCNN, the Ocho Cinco News Network. Ocho Cinco started engaging fans via Twitter when football season started last October. In February, OCNN came to life with its own news desk on the Super Bowl’s famed Radio Row where the mainstream sports media sets up to cover the tournament.

U.S. Army Launches Augmented Reality Game
The U.S. Army on Feb. 11 launched Army-Race for Strength, an interactive Augmented Reality (AR) game, to engage prospective recruits and showcase the technology and training used to develop strong soldiers. The AR game debuted at the Army’s Strength in Action Zone exhibit at Daytona International Speedway, Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, CA, the Chicago Auto Show and online via a downloadable version. Besides NASCAR and NHRA races, it will roll out within the next few months into all of the Army’s events system-wide, including state fairs, air shows and high school visits.

The BNP Paribas Showdown Recruits New Tennis Players
Today, four of the top women’s tennis players in the world will battle it out on court at the BNP Paribas Showdown for The Billie Jean Cup and $1.2 million in prize money. The tournament will also serve as a platform for numerous partnerships designed to increase awareness and participation in the sport itself.

Harley’s New Forty-Eight Goes Back to Basics
Harley-Davidson in January officially unveiled its new Forty-Eight motorcycle before a crowd of riders, media and chopper enthusiasts in the basement of New York’s hip Ace Hotel. The sneak preview took place one night before the New York Cycle World International Motorcycle Show, which took place Jan. 22 to 24 at the Javits Center. Harley-Davidson dealers attending a dealer meeting in Texas also got in on the action via video footage from the event and a live feed from the Motorcycle Show.
