  • Targeting: Dodge Sends College Students On Road Trip

Dodge this month sent three teams of college students on road trips
each in their own Caliber hatchback wagon to generate attention for
the new vehicle and raise funds for Doctors Without Borders.

Teams from Boston College Northwestern University and Texas
Christian University each hit three different markets en route to Miami
where they met for a finale event. Along the way their mission was
to set up events that introduced Gen-Y consumers to the Caliber. Each

  • Cause Marketing: Panasonic’s Oxyride Underwrites Bunny Neutering

Panasonic’s Oxyride brand took a not-so-subtle swipe at competitor
Energizer with its Neuter Your Bunny campaign funding the procedure
for five rabbits at a New York City veterinarian’s office on June 15.

The brand worked with the House Rabbit Society for the initiative
seeking out bunny owners on web sites such as craigslist.org to
nominate their pets for the procedure. Panasonic used a branded

    A three-city sampling effort for Ben & Jerry’s new pre-packed ice

Francisco (this week) distributed 50 000 full-size cones per market.

The Ben & Jerry’s twist? In addition to standard sampling on the
streets consumers could request that B&J reps deliver samples to
friends’ homes or offices later in the week—friends had to live or work

BellSouth is taking its Summer Swing mobile tour back on the
road. After hitting minor league baseball stadiums in the carrier’s
tier-one markets last year the brand is zeroing in on ballparks in
nine tier-two markets this summer through August 5. Another tweak was
to the event setup: BellSouth added a few elements outside the vehicle
to give consumers “something to do outside… giving them a greater
comfort level with the environment ” Suzanne Hulsey the company’s
    senior manager-sports marketing told Buzz.

  • Nightlife Marketing: Honda Puts New Ride In Front Of Concertgoers

American Honda Motor Company has partnered with the House of Blues to
promote its Fit subcompact in a multipronged campaign. An auction
sweepstakes and in-club events will round out the initiative.

Nine House of Blues venues are holding three “Fit In The House” nights
each throughout June. A musical artist who appeals to the Fit’s
demographic—young adult non-conformists per the brand—performs at each
event. (Acts include Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Johnny Lang.) While
