To generate media coverage and social media buzz around its new line of Dunder Mifflin paper, Quill.com from Dec. 13 to 15 distributed free reams of the paper via food trucks in Chicago, New York City and Los Angeles. A Twitter feed, @DMPaperTruck, informed consumers of the giveaway locations.

SoBe Heads to Campus with Study Break Tour
In an effort to deepen its connections with college students, SoBe on December 2 rolled out a two-week sampling program to 42 campuses via three separate tours that hit the Midwest, West and southeastern U.S. The SoBe Study Break Tour, which was housed in three converted food trucks, brought sampling events and challenges, both officially and in a guerrilla fashion, to students outside of rec centers, libraries and collegiate games during finals week.

ION Candy Truck Delivers Sweet Message to Ad Agencies
An ION television-branded mobile candy truck from Dec. 12 to 15 brought holiday cheer to advertising agencies along New York City’s Madison Avenue. The 24-foot-long truck, filled with an assortment of peppermint bark, toffee, candy canes and other goodies visited three to four agencies each day, for a total of 13 stops.

Food marketers have always known that the best way to get consumers to buy their products is to give them a taste of their goods. Now, marketers in other categories are giving consumers a taste of their products, too, by putting them in their hands to see how they work and what they feel like. In one case, they literally tried them on for size.

Cotton Inc. Hosts 24-Hour Fashion Show
To showcase the versatility of cotton and position cotton as high-end fashion, the trade group Cotton Inc. last month sponsored a 24-hour live fashion show in Miami’s trendy South Beach area. Beginning at noon on Nov. 19 and running until noon the next day, the show featured one fashion “look” per minute for a total of 1,440 outfits that highlighted cotton as a fabric that is fashionable night and day. Each of the 24 hours presented themed categories of cotton apparel such as “pajama party” and “urban chic.”
