Familia Camarena Extends Tequila-infused Tacos Beyond West Coast
After its success in Los Angeles and Nevada last summer, the Familia Camarena tequila brand launched its Camarena Taco Truck in New York City on May 25 and is in market through June. Two additional trucks will be making stops in Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Oakland and San Francisco. The brand has partnered with Chef Jesse Vega of Sueños restaurant in Manhattan to create tequila-infused tacos, which allows it to sample the spirit without actually serving it to consumers in a shot glass on the street.

Microsoft Pulls Off Dance Party in NYC
On Nov. 3, Microsoft took over Times Square with a 600-person choreographed dance party to celebrate the launch of Dance Central (MTV Games/Harmonix), one of the games that can be played on the company’s newest controller-free Kinect for Xbox 360, which hit retailers the next day. The stunt was part of a series of all-day publicity events in New York City, including three gaming pods called the Mobile Playspaces where consumers could demo the product.

Maybelline Pop-up Offers Mini-Makeovers During Fashion Week
As the official cosmetics sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, this year Maybelline engaged consumers a with a pop-up makeover experience that focused on bringing backstage fashion secrets and beauty trends to the masses. A new Fashion Week strategy this year for Maybelline, the pop-up allowed the company to promote more engagement with consumers.

Promethean Uses Tour to Boost Trade-Show Numbers
When interactive learning technology provider Promethean saw trade-show attendance drop last year, it created the ActivClassroom Experiential Tour, which takes its products directly to customers and beefs up its experiences at industry events. The tour is geared toward school district decision-makers at K-12 schools, such as superintendents, principals, teachers and IT consultants. The tour travels in a 36-foot ActivBus, which started up in April and is currently on the road with a second vehicle in the works for 2011.
