LGBT Marketing Finds Summer of Love
New York only passed the same-sex marriage law this July, but the LGBT community has been fraternizing on the state’s Fire Island since the 1960s. For the uninitiated, the island is divided into several sections, two of them mostly frequented by the LGBT community—the Pines primarily by gay men and Cherry Grove by lesbians. The Pines also boasts having the most expensive real estate on Fire Island with about 700 houses in one square mile. The thousands of vacationers that flock to the area—most on timeshares—live and work in Manhattan.

Ravenswood’s Rugged Booth Stands Out at NYC Wine & Food Fest
At the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival’s Grand Tasting at Chelsea Piers (Sept. 30-Oct. 2), Ravenswood wine’s Sonoma County-inspired booth stood out among the rows of wine tasting tables. It harked back to the brand’s tasting room in the Mayacamas Mountains with rugged wood panels and wrought iron elements, including an old army cot turned photo installation. Consumers were prompted to have their photo taken by staffers dressed all in black with dangling raven-inspired feather earrings.

GMC’s Monday Night Football Tour is Bigger, Badder
GMC, the official vehicle of the NFL, has boosted its year-two sponsorship of the Monday Night Football Tour with more fan-friendly experiences, test drives and community projects that promote its line-up of cars. The tour takes place in high-end malls on Saturdays and Sundays before the Monday night game, followed by events held at Boys and Girls Clubs on game day and playground builds with the United Way on Tuesdays.

Smirnoff Courts Facebook Fans with Nightlife Exchange
Smirnoff once again is leveraging the power of Facebook to reach revelers around the globe through its Nightlife Exchange Project. And to shake things up a bit, this year it is introducing Madonna into the mix. Last year’s inaugural effort had Smirnoff’s Facebook fans sharing their nightlife faves, from music, to fashion, to venues, to food and, of course, cocktails. They submitted more than 33,000 ideas to facebook.com/smirnoff, and the best of them came to life at 14 events around the globe on one night—Nov.
