Siemens Brands Disney’s Spaceship Earth Ride

Disney’s Spaceship Earth ride at Epcot has relaunched thanks to a new sponsor—Siemens the German conglomerate. The grand opening of the updated attraction took place earlier this month.

The new experience dubbed “Spaceship Earth Presented by Siemens ” features innovations such as Siemens’ touch screens and a 20-foot illuminated globe where visitors can create their own visions of the future and other educational post-ride games highlighting Siemens technologies. A 3-D game enables users to assemble a digital human body; a driving simulation game showcases motor vehicle accident and avoidance systems developed by Siemens.

Siemens in 2005 entered into a $100 million 12-year strategic alliance with the Walt Disney Company. The partnership includes Base 21 Siemens’ visitor and meeting facility located at the Spaceship Earth attraction. The 4 800-square-foot facility comprises a VIP lounge an observatory and lab all outfitted with Siemens’ products. Siemens also sponsors Epcot’s nightly fireworks program “IllumniNations: Reflections of Earth ” with Sylvania a Siemens company.
