Kellogg’s Reels In Anglers For Sponsorship

Kellogg’s is sponsoring the Walmart FLW Tour, the prestigious outdoors bass fishing tournament that’s making 11 stops nationwide until October. Next stop will be Potomac River in National Harbor, MD from May 17 to 20.

Along the way Kellogg’s is leveraging its sponsored pro fishermen to meet with fans in Walmart locations and on-site during the tourney. The pros answer questions about fishing, sign autographs and take selected VIPs and consumers out onto the water to do some angling. As a bonus and to spread some of the buzz online, Kellogg’s team pro angler Dave Lefebre is writing a blog on the FLW site, providing an inside look at the Walmart FLW Tour stops. After every event, Lefebre shares his thoughts on tournament strategy, winning techniques and other behind-the-scenes information.

“Our sponsored pro anglers act as our brand ambassadors to these consumers,” Kevin Hoppe, manager-shopper marketing at Kellogg’s, which is also the presenting sponsor of the Table Rock Lake tour stop and the Angler of the Year prize, told Buzz. “This is not the usual target [consumer] we’d go after, but our partners at Walmart are excited about it and it helps us go beyond our usual targets.
