Truck and engine manufacturer Navistar on March 21 held a panel on a hot button issue for the industry—natural gas. The VIP event took place one day prior to the opening of the Mid-America Trucking Show, an annual forum for the heavy-duty trucking industry and the largest trucking show in North America, held March 22 to 24 in Louisville, KY.
The panel educated Navistar dealers and customers from around the world as well as the media about the future of natural gas and how the company is preparing for it. Panel members included natural gas proponent and investor T. Boone Pickens along with executives of Clean Energy Fuels Corp., Pilot-Flying J Travel Centers and Chesapeake Energy. Michael Cerilli, vp-marketing at Navistar, led the discussion.
“One of Navistar’s brand tenets is relationships, not only with our customers but with key business partners,” Cerilli told Buzz. “The natural gas panel was a perfect platform to prove it, in front of more than 1,400 live audience members including dealers, suppliers and media. Our objective was simple—to disrupt a traditional industry show and create a reason to stop, think and view Navistar differently. The panel was one factor of many that help accomplish that goal.”
Before the evening event, Navistar teased the topic of natural gas via Facebook and Twitter posts and live tweeted during the panel. Afterwards, attendees visited the Navistar exhibit, the largest at the show, to view the new products such as the International Loadstar work truck and its natural gas solutions for the transportation industry.
