I will never forget the moment Ray Houghton smashed the winning goal past Italy’s Guianluca Pagliuca to record a famous victory for the Boys in Green in the USA World Cup of ’94, one of my first vivid World Cup memories and a moment which outshone the wonderful pre-match sight of Steve Staunton lining up for the national anthems in a sun-defying white baseball cap. Wonderful memories which sum up the enjoyment and passion that the beautiful game can emote.

No matter what has been said in recent times about FIFA, there is no doubt that their events evoke raw emotion in all football fans, young or old. Everyone has their own ‘World Cup moment’.

This Sunday, FIFA are opening the doors to fans to the FIFA World Football Museum to allow fans to relive these memorable footballing moments and to celebrate the rich heritage of football. We’ve been lucky enough to work with the team at the museum in shaping the digital visitor experience onsite so have seen the place transformed from a building site into a truly fantastic destination over the last couple of years.
