San Diego Comic Con is one of the most popular events in the US, entertaining 130,000 people over a four day period. Fans flock to San Diego every year to immerse themselves in the worlds of their favorite shows, movies, and of course, comics. But how do these worlds get created? It's not just cast interviews and trailer debuts. Keep reading to see how our favorite activations from this year gave fans unforgettable experiences!

Star Trek and MAC Cosmetics

A popular makeup brand isn’t the first thing you would expect to find at Comic Con, but MAC’s presence is actually perfect for the many cosplayers at the event to enjoy. MAC didn't just show up with a booth to share their products. They showed up with a spaceship – complete with lights and smoke machines. Fans who came aboard got early preview of the new Star Trek inspired makeup line and the opportunity to test it out. Even after the spaceship closed at night, it continued to grab attention by lighting up, appearing to fly away.

Ghostbusters and Lyft's Ecto-1

Is there a better way to promote the new Ghostbuster’s movie than to give fans the chance to ride around in the Ecto-1 at SDCC? Partnering with Lyft, Ghostbusters gave fans free rides around the area in an exact replica of the famous car. Although the experience wasn’t perfect (broken AC in the summer heat isn't ideal), we still love the idea. See more about this experience in the video below!

Conan and Virtual Reality

#TeamCoco brought big VR game this year for not only fans at Comic Con, but also fans at home. Comic Con goers got a chance to test the most bonkers VR headset we’ve ever seen. While most headsets are a simple set of goggles, this headset was a replica of the head of the Conan Pop! Vinyl figure. Fans at home had two ways to experience "Conan Con" – Conan's live shows from Comic Con. Lucky viewers were able to receive cardboard headsets that paired with a phone app to get a VR experience of Conan’s shows. Those who weren’t able to get their hands on the cardboard headset were able to see a full view of the show from 360 youtube videos on Conan's channel.

Hello Kitty Cafe food truck

After a successful appearance at last year’s Comic Con, the Hello Kitty Cafe food truck returned this year to bring event goers more tasty Hello Kitty inspired treats and adorable merchandise. The truck also debuted a new exclusive limited treat – a set of five macarons, each designed after key characters.
