AT&T’s booth at Hannover Messe, the world’s largest capital goods exhibition, showcased its Internet of Things (IoT) technology, including smart cities, secure networking, IoT for cargo, IoT analytics, on-demand network services and more. Virtual reality, transparent touch screens, projection mapping and multi-touch screen apps engaged the international audience in interactive content, started conversations with brand representatives and created curiosity around AT&T’s brand story, regardless of language or culture.

The primary objective was to showcase AT&T as a global solutions provider and a leader in enabling smart cities. Oculus Rift virtual reality led the way via a custom-created 3D Smart City tour. Attendees also could view a 360-degree video experience using Samsung Gear VR headsets powered with Samsung Galaxy S6 phones. Transparent touch screens and kiosks explained complex topics like AT&T’s global IoT solutions and IoT app building. Projection mapping with tablet control told the story of connected cargo via exciting and cinematic animation projected on four sides of a large cube displayed in a stack of cargo crates.

More than 3,000 attendees participated in the experience. For many, it was their first engagement with VR. We’re betting it won’t be their last.
