Nokia Pimps Out a Double-Decker London Bus
To promote its latest camera phone among 25-35 year olds in the U.S., Nokia pimped out a double-decker London bus that rolled its way through 10 markets from New York City to Los Angeles. Bus windows were replaced with eight screens that played loops demonstrating the device’s music capabilities, MobiTV and eBay features. MMS boards displayed consumer photos taken with the 6682 and a sheltered demo base at ground level provided photo printing and sound quality demos. Consumers received free photos and saw themselves pictured on the bus.
The branded vehicle gave Nokia additional exposure just being on the road. The interactive bus drove activity
at retail as well, with footfall in nearby stores increasing at least threefold on days the hit squads were active.
The tour was one of Nokia’s most successful global activities of the year and has led
to two more large event programs across the U.S.
