At its annual team-building event, the Latin American division of Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Diagnostics had to announce to its sales force that patients, physicians and hospital staff would be added to the roster of key players in the business, which meant more work. The company gathered its troops at a resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, to deliver the news in a relaxed environment. J&J reinforced the message by making the central theme of the event Reaching New Audiences.

On the first night attendees were treated to a recreation of the popular Spanish-language variety show “Sábado Gigante,” which is broadcast throughout Latin America. The show included an imitation of the show’s stage and themes, plus karaoke, dance competitions, quiz shows and games. On the second day, a general session was transformed into a Variety Talk Show and an employee from J&J acted as the show’s host. The third day was dedicated to J&J’s franchises with seven different events including a 70’s-era disco scavenger hunt. On the fourth day, there was a “Pirates of the Caribbean” costume dinner party.
