HPE App Helps Attendees ‘Discover’ Relevant Content
If you’re going to name a flagship event “Discover,” you need enough content, networking and sponsorships to live up to the name—and an easy way to navigate it. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) provided both at its semiannual open forum business conference thanks to a mobile event app and a record-setting 1,500 proximity beacons spread across the convention center floor.
Like most brands these days, HPE used its event technology to capture intelligence on attendee preferences in hopes of improving future events. Accordingly, the Discover app was designed not only to increase engagement, but to provide tailored experiences that allowed attendees to navigate the event based on their personal preferences.
To that end, the app offered 10 self-guided audio tours that allowed attendees to explore the show floor on their own terms. Each tour provided step-by-step, interactive wayfinding maps that let participants tour the area at their own pace (take a hike, Waze), along with relevant, location-based content.
Additional app features included a “Must See” section containing key live-streams, sessions and interviews; social media updates; a customizable schedule and the ability to favorite sessions, demos and sponsors.
The results were exactly what HPE hoped to Discover: 7,900 turn-by-turn routes requested, 1,700 audio tours played and a 32 percent year-over-year increase in unique app users.
