PNC Bank Tests All Digital Pop-Up Concept

PNC Bank is testing a pop-up branch in Atlanta’s busy Atlantic Station that is open seven days a week through mid-November. The all-digital temporary branch, which launched Aug. 1, is the latest step in a strategy to raise brand awareness and bring the bank to consumers.

Housed in a modified steel constructed pod, the 20-foot by eight-foot pop-up is staffed by financial services consultants rather than tellers who assist with new accounts and personal loans as well as referrals for a PNC mortgage, investments, merchant services and other products. The consultants use iPads to demonstrate online and mobile services such as PNC Virtual Wallet and Cash Flow Insight for small businesses. A “smart” ATM is available for routine 24-hour banking.

“Consumers are using branches very differently today,” Todd Barnhart, evp of branch banking at PNC Bank, told Buzz. “This pop-up is a creative way to bring banking to customers and have them experience the solutions we offer.” Agency: Eventive, New York City.
