Kia Motors America throughout July teamed up with the Atlanta Hawks in Georgia to host the Kia Summer Hoops Tour that staged more than 20 basketball clinics at Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs, youth leagues and other recreational facilities across the state. The free clinics were designed to teach basketball fundamentals to youths between ages 7 and 16 and their parents and emphasized education, dedication teamwork and personal responsibility in addition to the sports skills. The more than 1,000 attendees (kids and parents) could interact with a Hawks-wrapped Kia Sorento featured at each clinic. They also received a branded basketball jersey and drawstring bag. For those who couldn’t make it, or wanted to show off their experiences to friends after the events, video recaps and photo galleries are posted on the Hawks site at hawks.com/youthbasketball.
“Being involved in a community-based program allows us to get out and make people aware of the brand’s involvement with the team while supporting this initiative,” Kathryn Cima, national manager-partnerships and experiential marketing at Kia North America, told Buzz. “We touched more than 1,000 kids and it was great to reach that many families. This is such an important thing for the community.”
