It’s hard to beat an autumn evening in Manhattan indulging in five-star fare, so when Citi invited EM to its Sept. 15 Citi Prestige Priceless Table event in partnership with Mastercard, we made a bee line for the Big Apple. And the experience, which aimed to promote the benefits of Citi’s Prestige card, didn’t disappoint.
Upon arriving at One World Observatory inside the World Trade Center, we were directed to ASPIRE, the Observatory’s chic event space. In addition to spectacular views, the space featured glowing candles and mood lighting, bouquets of fresh fall flowers and elegant table décor. As attendees mingled, a handful of classical musicians performed, further enhancing the premium experience.
Following a cocktail hour, we joined the brand executives, cardmembers and media in attendance for a curated dining experience prepared by Marc Forgione, a Michelin star cook and one of the Iron Chefs competing on the Food Network’s “Iron Chef America.” Among the offerings: Heirloom tomatoes with black pepper brioche and smoked olive oil, pastrami ribeye, upside-down apple cake with honey crisp apple consommé and our favorite—hiramasa tartare featuring a Szechuan button that made our tongues tingle. Each course was also paired with a glass of wine (or three, depending on your style).
Throughout the evening, special guest Paul Azinger, a 12-time winner on the PGA Tour and lead golf analyst for FOX, mingled with attendees and shared success stories. Similarly, Forgione emerged from the kitchen for an informal storytelling session in which he relayed what life was like during his early days as a chef.
The evening concluded with the distribution of well-stocked swag bags featuring a branded wine bottle, bar accessories and copies of both Forgione’s and Azinger’s books. When all was said and done, we left with new stories, full bellies and an appreciation for what Citi card membership—and the live experiences that come with it—are all about.
