WIRED magazine’s annual tech gallery and retail experience is a launching pad for new technology and cutting-edge products and this year will feature a creative collaboration with recording artist Moby who will combine artwork with electric paint that seems to come to life when touched. The breakthrough technology uses conductive inks to replace wires heat sources speakers lights power sources switches buttons and sensors making technology as thin and weightless as a layer of ink. Moby also performed a special dj set at the opening night party on Nov. 20.
The magazine’s partners are a key element of the strategy for the shop. American Express will be on hand for the retail side and Chevrolet will showcase its new Camaro. The WIRED Store will host events weekly throughout its six-week run including chef demos and wine tastings in the WIRED Café Geek Dad Saturdays Game Day Sundays and professional skateboarder Tony Hawk will organize the gaming area.
“The WIRED brand is so diverse and we can tap into such a wealth of technology that for us it has to be about bringing the richest possible experiences to the store ” Erica Boeke executive brand manager at WIRED magazine told Buzz. “We have to serve our consumers and our advertising clients so we try to bring our sponsors in in a new way and with the newest tech because that’s what our readers expect.”
